"I understand now that boundaries
between noise and sound are conventions.
All boundaries are conventions, waiting to be transcended.
One may transcend any convention
if only one can first conceive of doing so.”
― David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas
Sometimes what holds us back from the success
we aspire to is nothing more than our impression of what we are capable of
achieving. So-called “beginners luck” can thus be
viewed as some degree of benefit from not knowing what we’re
"not supposed to be able to do."
I recently had lunch with a friend who experienced a time in the 1990s when
she had difficulty finding a qualified African American employee to work as
an information technology computer scientist. When she finally did find
such a person after an exhaustive search throughout the San Francisco bay
area, she asked him why he felt there were so few African Americans with
computer science skills. He replied something to the effect of,
“They don’t have those skills,” which came
as a complete shock.
There is scientific basis for acting "as if" you can do pretty much
anything. People who find themselves in situations of great need in
real-life emergency situations are often able to demonstrate amazing feats
of courage, stamina, resourcefulness and strength. It’s as if
the very act of adopting a "can do" attitude of indomitable spirit sets in
motion some kind of connection to a successful future
outcome—something like Dr. John Cramer’s idea of a Quantum Handshake through time. It also
can feel a lot like you are making a connection to another possible reality
in the holographic multiverse—with another possible you.
When I first started attending classes at UC Berkeley in the Physics
department where I got my degree, I benefited from telling myself that
"lots of young women just like me do really well at this." These little pep
talks flew in the face of what my senses told me, as at that time there
were very few women students enrolled with me as Physics majors, yet they
provided me with just enough confidence to feel certain I would
succeed.

Overcoming Artificial
Boundaries
Enjoying lunch with friends in San Francisco the other day,
our conversation turned to the way people so often decide on some arbitrary
line of demarcation that acts as a boundary we then choose to respect. We
thus end up with geographic boundaries for our cities, counties, states,
and nations. We have boundaries for races, genders, ages, politics, and
religions. We set boundaries for what kind of news and scientific reporting
we consider legitimate. These boundaries seem quite real to us when
we’re closely involved in whatever is being divided
up–but as soon as we get some distance between ourselves and
whatever is being divided up, we can find ourselves hard pressed to explain
why any particular dividing line was so essential.
While these lines may seem benign, they can contribute to serious problems.
One of my friends explained how she’d conducted a search for an
African American computer engineer employee a few years ago.
She’d thought finding a black programmer would be fairly
straightforward, and was surprised to discover that was not the case. When
she finally found and hired a young black man, she asked him why he thought
there were so few blacks involved in Information Technology. He replied
that African Americans, “just don’t have the required
skills.” While this young man clearly believed this to be true,
my friends and I were aghast at how such a thing could be. Even if young
African Americans are not provided with requisite skills to be accepted to
college computer science programs—what belief system is
contributing to this situation? At some point there must be an artificial
line of demarcation—some point where those fit to learn computer
programming skills may proceed onward and upward, and all considered to be
“unfit” may not.
Why do we feel such a burning need to draw these
boundaries—these artificial lines of demarcation? One of my
friends pointed out that we could, as John Lennon invites us to do in the
lyrics in his song, Imagine, simply choose to walk through those imaginary
boundaries–yet the reason most people don’t do just
that has to do with a fear of losing control. He summed it up as,
“We set boundaries because of a need for control.”

Two Minute Meditation with Cynthia
Sue Larson
Have you noticed how some life experiences test your ability
to get and remain positive? Have you witnessed how when you experience
chaos within your being, from a place of fearless divine faith and love,
everything shifts? Love is always present within your being, and is
stronger than any other energy. Love ensures that you and I and everything
around us exists in a superposition of possible states, entangled and
interconnected as one. Regardless how things may appear, at the most
fundamental level, all physical situations and facts can change. Such
changes can happen in a moment--in an instant--in a flash. Experiencing
emotional and energetic shifts feels like having faith; that despite
appearances to the contrary, everything truly is working out for the best.
No matter what is happening in your life right now, ask, "How good can it
get?" and be prepared to be astonished to find out just how good it can
get.
What is an “Economic Hit Man” and what
difference have they made in our lives? John Perkins talks with Cynthia Sue
Larson about how he and others worked as Economic Hit Men to cheat
countries out of trillions of dollars while spreading the structure and
value of “death economy” greed-based values. Perkins
provides insights as to how the deadly EHM cancer he and others helped
create has recently spread more widely around the world and here in the
United States to become the dominant system of business, government, and
society today–and what we each can do to make a positive
difference.
John Perkins is author of several books, including “The World is
As You Dream It” and “The New Confessions of an
Economic Hit Man.” Perkins was formerly Chief Economist at a
major international consulting firm where he advised the World Bank, United
Nations, the IMF, US Treasury Department, Fortune 500 corporations and
governments in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. His books
have sold more than 1 million copies, with 9 New York Times Bestsellers.

Manifestation of Gold
Jim
St. Johnsville, New York, USA
I was living in this awful third story apartment—and eight years
prior, I was taught by a spiritual teacher to visualize what you wanted. I
can't remember whether it was the teacher's idea or mine, but I spent a few
hours per week visualizing gold coins falling from the sun into my
outstretched hands. I did not have an emotional sense of joy, but I did
Eye-magine how the gold coins would feel in my hands. Nothing became of it,
and I stopped the practice until I moved into this aforementioned
apartment. I did this for about ten minutes a day for two
months—and then I learned that a relative had passed away had
left me thirty three hundred dollars in gold coins.
Note from Cynthia: Thank you for sharing this experience with me!
I love the way you write about maintaining a sense of positive
visualization even after "nothing became of it" the first time around.

Outside a local convenient store about ten years ago, I ran into an old
acquaintance, Pete, who had been seriously ill. We started to talk but I
couldn't understand a word he was saying—so out of politeness, I
just kept nodding my head. Finally I just said, "Nice to see you again.
Take care,” and we parted company. I thought to myself,
“What a strange conversation that was.” About two
weeks later, I was talking to my brother-in-law, and Pete's name came up in
our conversation. My brother-in-law said, “You could not have
been talking to Pete two weeks ago, because he died two months
ago.” I still wonder about that strange conversation we had, and
how I could not understand a word he was saying.
Note from Cynthia: I'm moved by your experience meeting Pete, who
was difficult to understand, during a time when you later discovered he was
dead. This seems like possible evidence of a superposition of states--of
witnessing an alive (though unintelligible) Pete, and later hearing that
must have been some alternate history compared with the (new) official
history at that time.
Awareness of Shifting Reality
Michelle
Ontario, Canada
Found yourself and website a few days after discovering that events which I
remember are clearly changed. Examples of geography, popular culture,
changed spelling of familiar items and the best part living with an
enhanced version of myself and family members as I'd always wished to
become.
The defining aha moment for personally amongst all is a solid extended
memory of actor Jack Palance ( Curly in City Slickers) passing away during
the filming of City Slickers 2 one year after accepting an Oscar for his
role in the original. I remember him accepting his Oscar being so happy for
him as he was a longstanding Hollywood Actor with defining looks whom had
not had prior acknowledgement. I also remember being very sad that he
passed away so soon afterward and making a point to see the 2nd film.
It was disappointing, they had to make do with what footage, already had
and it wasn't at all up to standard. That following year Billy Crystal did
a heartfelt tribute to "Curly" at the Oscars for 1994. I remember him
riding his horse away on a huge screen ,tears in Billys' eyes. In this
reality Jack Palance died in 2006.
This is undeniable for myself. There being no question this is different
version of same world. After much research online pieces came together
quickly. Science and spirituality have always seemed mirror images if not
the same versions of the same explanation. In agreement rather than
disagreement. If only they would come together?
I have experienced synchronicity in amazing ways at times during my life
and am a believer of changing reality. Your explanations and discussions
and interviews offer a reasonable explanation that we do accomplish such by
changing our version of reality switching between different worlds which
are the same with minor differences.
I look forward to continuing to build a better world for all. Which I now
believe is absolutely within our grasp. Thank you for your wonderful site
and look forward to hearing more from yourself in the future.
Note from Cynthia: Thank you so much for sharing with me your
experience noticing Jack Palance having died at two distinctly different
times. And now that you mention it, I recall a vague sense of some
confusion in 2006 upon hearing about his death, thinking, "Didn't he die
already?" Since he's not been an actor who has been in my focal "umbra" let
alone the adjacent slight-focused "penumbra," I was left with just the
foggiest sense of there being a possibility of an alternate history
experience associated with Jack Palance's death.
Landmarks, Signs and Houses Missing on Drive
Home
Jil Chastain
Thank you so much for being there! I have had all of these strange
feelings and no explanation for them and now I understand. I don't know
why I didn't catch this before. I am a student of science (in my 50's!)
but also spiritual. It seems the two don't go together, but they do! The
friends I have now fall on one side or the other: spiritual or
science—they say I can't have both.
But it makes sense that "spiritual" and science would go together. I
thought I was all alone.
If I could "shift" realities, I would be in a place where I could come and
visit you and soak up as much as possible of what you know. For some time
now, I have felt that I was not "where I should be.” It is very
strange. When I was younger, I felt VERY STRONGLY that I had something
particular to do—yet, I didn't know what that something was. I
felt it for years. I kept looking in different places (not knowing your
way) with no luck.
Then one morning I was driving home from college—very early. It
was foggy—so foggy I could not see any other cars or signs or
people. The further I went I became more and more unsettled. I knew that
I should be seeing landmarks, signs, etc—but I was not. Then I
knew I should have come upon a small town I usually pass but I hadn't. I
was genuinely scared. No signs, no other cars, no people, no
houses—nothing but road.
Finally after about 2 hours I came to a lone sign that said, "Montgomery
(this way)" and "Birmingham (this way). I wasn't sure which road to take
because I didn't know where I was. I chose the Birmingham route and
finally I began seeing things I recognized. Then I finally got to my
mother's house. All seemed normal but looking back, that is when it seems
that things began to feel "not right" for me. I have chalked it is to "all
in my head" but, seriously, it seems that everything I have attempted or
done since then has been a failure. Prior to that I was confident, sky is
the limit, people were drawn to me, I was a born leader, etc.
Nothing has turned out like I imagined no matter how hard I try.
So with your books (
Reality Shifts,
Quantum Jumps, and
Aura Advantage) in my Kindle Reader, I am forging ahead and hoping to
find what I need. I am just about broke so these are big investments for
me for I really believe they are good investments. (truly)
You asked for feedback about The Mandela Effect:
I have always thought it was Berenstein Bears because my last name is
ChaSTAIN and I would have noticed if the spelling were BerenSTAIN. I also
remember thinking that Berenstein was usually a Jewish name
I also thought Mandela died in prison because I wondered if Winnie would
take over his cause. I have seen a video out there where Bush 43 says
"Mandela is dead.” I don't know what context it’s
in.
The Disney "Snow White" evil queen has always said, "MIRROR, MIRROR on the
wall, who's the fairest of them all?" Now, it’s "MAGIC MIRROR
on the wall.
Note from Cynthia: Thank you for sharing your experience driving
home from college and noticing you didn't pass the small town that is
usually there--nor any signs, cars, people, or houses. Over the years, a
number of people have reported having had similar experiences that have
been documented in the RealityShifters ezine issues and on the "your
stories" section of the realityshifters website. I'd love to suggest to you
that you have the ability to reverse out any kind of detrimental effects
you might believe were related to this incident, citing evidence from the
remarkable efficacy of the placebo effect, as described in my book,
"Quantum Jumps." We do much better on just about every kind of physical,
mental, and emotional test when told something along the lines of, "You've
got this" beforehand—and I'm certain you can again become the
confident, sky's the limit, charismatic born leader you used to be!
Thanks for sharing feedback on some other recent alternate history memes,
including: Nelson Mandela's death (I also recall wondering if Winnie would
maintain the momentum of his earlier work), "Mirror, mirror on the wall,"
and especially the Berenstain / Berenstein Bears. I love how the spelling
of your last name makes the change especially noteworthy!
I take it this was a rather familiar drive for you, rather than a matter of
having taken a wrong turn somewhere and ending up lost, right? I figure
your trip home was likely very familiar, and that's what made this
experience especially unnerving at the time.
California Dreaming Song Lyrics Changed
Jil Chastain
Lyrics to the Mamas and the Papas song, California Dreaming, have changed
in the second verse: ”I went into a church and I ????? to
pray.”
https://youtu.be/3PVfk_LWtHg
Note from Cynthia: WHOA! I had to play this to see for myself
what's going on, and I can't even begin to tell you how bizarre it is to
see Denny Doherty sing a word that just sounds so completely wrong. And as
you point out, "I've been singing this song with different lyrics all these
years!" WOW.
A Dog Told Me to Slow Down, Just in Time
Jim
St. Johnsville, New York, USA
I had an out of body experiences years ago, and soon after I had 'out of
the ordinary experiences' in body—such as being able to project
heat energy into rocks just by closing my eyes and holding them to my head
and heart and intending. At times in the dark I could see a vortex swirling
movement above my head. I was also experiencing communication with animals.
For example, I was driving along and spotted a dog in the road up ahead.
Our eyes met, and it told me to slow down. I did. About 500 feet further, I
saw a deer in the field next to me running in the same direction that I was
traveling. Our eyes met for a split second as if it was
intelligent—not just a deer— and it suddenly crossed
the road in front of me. If I hadn't slowed down, I would have hit the
deer. It was if the dog was telling me to slow down.
Note from Cynthia: I love your experience of getting a message
first from a dog you saw in a road, and then from a deer. There are times
that something beyond mere information or facts seem to be relayed--and it
seems you had such a moment there on that road, helping you avoid running
into the deer, while at the same time gaining a profound sense of shared
awareness.
Hi, Cynthia,
I don't exactly have a reality shift story this time, but I have a
questions about Deja Vu. I know I've had so many Deja Vu experiences
throughout this lifetime, however, there is only one that I remember
clearly. The odd part of remembering this particular one is it happened
somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 to 40 years ago. I was married to my
first husband and we went to the grocery store and were walking from the
car across the parking lot. As we stepped that last few steps about three
feet from the curb going toward the entrance of the store, I turned my
head to the right and felt something wrong, I expected to see a car,
(didn't hear anything) it just felt like it. That Deja Vu feeling was so
strong I stopped! Just stopped and tried to figure out the familiarity
around me, familiar, but it also felt so oddly weird! Yes, I'd walked into
this store many times before, it wasn't that same mundane routine feeling
one usually has when doing routine things. The only reason I mention this
is three questions:
(1) Why is this the only Deja Vu I remember and remember so clearly from
around 40 years ago?
(2) Do you think this Deja Vu has anything to do with a quantum jump of
alternate reality? Or past life?
(3) Since this was such a different feeling with something of dread added
to it, is it an actual Deja Vu?
Always enjoy your ezine and books, you are appreciated greatly!
Thanks,
— Deb
Dear Deb,
Thanks for writing to me with your questions about Déjà vu!
(1) In reply to your first question, it's possible that this is the only
deja vu you remember so clearly might have something to do with your having
been in special state of mind at that time that hasn't recurred--possibly
influenced by factors such as diet, emotional state, sleep, hydration, and
so forth. (2) To answer your second question, I do suspect that
Déjà vu experiences are related to quantum jumps and
alternate realities, in the sense that Déjà vu feels like
getting a glimpse into a possible reality when first encountering that
sense of dream or daydream--and later upon living through that sequence of
events, Déjà vu often feels like having experienced some kind
of dream-come-true, knowing one has 'already seen' such events unfold
exactly like this somehow before. (3) To answer your third question, when I
encounter a sense of dread when first getting a dream or daydream initial
experience of a given Déjà vu, sometimes the feeling I get
with it is unpleasant--often prompting me to energetically push that
feeling and the associated possible experience away with it. This type of
Déjà vu experience can also be viewed as a type of
precognition.
With love and thanks,
— Cynthia
___________
Hi, Cynthia,
I've seen your videos on YouTube and am interested in the idea we are able
to switch timelines.
I did some things a few years ago that have made me feel bad about myself.
Everything else in my life is fine as I know I can change and develop
however the things I did are on my mind and even though they haven't
affected my life, they've affected how I feel.
Is it possible to switch to a timeline with an alternate past where I
didn't do these things?
Kind regards,
— Chika
Dear Chika,
Yes, it is possible that having made one choice, you might later find that
history has changed, and you've now made a different choice in the past.
While this works fairly well at times (though often a bit unpredictably),
it can prove problematic when emotionally entangled with past events.
Feelings of shame or blame or guilt usually tend to lock people into
believing that only that reality is the one that occurred--so those who've
experienced miraculous shifts in the past often do so thanks to being able
to become emotionally detached through prayer and/or meditation. Even so,
results are not always guaranteed--but the emotional detachment required
for best results in experiencing altered reality happen to also be best for
emotional well-being, so I'd recommend this course of action.
Sincerely,
— Cynthia
___________
For what it's worth, Cynthia,
I remember "Sex and the City" and "If you build it, he will come" —
and I'm tired, after all these years and decades, of being told (by other
people who have seen the same shows, the same film) that these cannot
possibly be right. It gets worse when (maybe to settle the argument) they
watch the same show or film again, AFTER they have told me "it can't
possibly be what you say you saw, Kate" — so they watch it,
after we've been talking, and they see the video agreeing with me and NOT
with what they remembered, and they get upset with me and/or with reality,
or SOMETHING.
I know I am not the only person who gets disliked because the way I see and
remember these things is in like with the evidence rather than with what
other people remember afterwards. As it happens, I am on the autism
spectrum (my diagnosis is autism or Asperger's, depending whom you ask),
and a few months ago I was talking over these things (differences between
evidence and memory) with some of my friends and acquaintances who are also
on the spectrum. Many of them had VERY similar, even (often) identical,
stories of how the way they remembered things /a/ doesn't fit other
people's memories — but /b/ DOES fit the checkable evidence
instead.
Specific things that came up, during these conversations, included both
"Sex in the City" (remembering "in," like the actual series, where everyone
else remembers "and") and "If you build it, he will come" (where everyone
else remembers "they" but the movie has "he" and these individuals remember
it that way & are tired of being told we're wrong.)
Other things of this type (where my autism-spectrum friends and I
have memories that match the evidence and that DON'T conform with everyone
else's memories instead) include, frequently, the following:
• Remembering a children's book series-title being spelled
"Berenstain Bears" (which is what's actually on the cover) when everyone
else remembers "Berenstein Bears" wig an "e" instead of the "a" —
some of us, for instance, have memories of spelling it
"Berenstain" in a book-report, losing points because the teacher thought
"Berenstein" (and/or being laughed at by the classmates who all thought it
was "Berenstein" despite having read the books too), then showing the
teacher and classmates the actual book-cover, and the teacher and/or
classmates getting mad because the evidence didn't match their firm
memories of "Berenstein" instead, (One guy even reported that, when this
happened to him in second grade, his teacher actually took off MORE points
when he showed her "Berenstain"-with-"a" o. the actual book-cover, on the
actual book in the school library, and the book-cover agreed with him and
disagreed with the teacher, so the teacher decided this fact was somehow
"disrespect" and took off points for that.
• Knowing that a certain word is spelled and pronounced
"dilemma" (which is how the dictionaries say it is spelled) when
some/most/all other people (such as teachers and, later on,,p co-workers
and employers) are equally sure that it is spelled and/or pronounced
"dilemna"-with-an-"n" instead (-!: the same sorts of things happening, as a
result: checking the dictionaries, side-by-side with the
"dilemNa"-believer, showing them that it really IS "dilemMa" in the
dictionaries, and then them getting mad at us, at the universe, or
whatever, because their belief and memory were for "dilemNa" and are vetoed
by the evidence.
• One thing that came up, over and over in these
"evidence-disagrees-with-most-people-and p-agrees-with-us" stories that we
folks on the autism spectrum were discussing, was evidence on the
death-dates of various famous people such as Nelson Mandela. A lot of us
remembered knowing/learning that he died in 2013 (which is what the
available evidence shows to be the year he died) and later mentioning these
to other people (not on the autism spectrum) who said stuff like "How could
he have just died? That's ridiculous — I'm absolutely sure I
remember news-stories back in 1980-something/1990-something [typically,
they'd say they remembered a specific year, such as 1996 or 1983]
announcing that he had just died in prison," And then, the people who
remembered it as happening in 2013 would show the evidence —
news-stories or Wikipedia or encyclopedia articles or whatever —
and the people who remembered a 1980s/1990s date instead would get all
upset at the evidence, or at us for bringing it, or maybe at us AND the
evidence AND the universe itself for not fitting their memories.
• Some of the other things which came up in these
conversations were other checkable things like geography — For
example, where Sri Lanka is on the map (in relation to India), or where's
New Zealand (in relation to Australia), or whether Mongolia is its own
country or just part of Chiba — all kinds of stuff where what we
firmly remember actually fits the map/other documentation & what everyone
else remembers with equal firmness doesn't fit the map or other
documentation.
Is there something about autism/Asoerger's that would be making it
more likely for our memories to fit the documentation and therefore not fit
most other people's memories?

Dear Kate,
Thanks for writing to me with this fascinating line of inquiry. I'm
intrigued by the informal data you've been gathering amongst people on the
autistic spectrum with regard to observations (or non-observations) of
alternate histories. Results from your small-sample informal inquiries get
me to thinking that some conditions that are 'off the norm' might indeed
produce different experiences with regard to macro-scale quantum effects,
such as noticing alternate histories.
In a slightly related line of inquiry, I've wondered whether people who
have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) tendencies tend to experience
fewer observed alternate histories than most--or whether these individuals
might possibly be "locking in" particular realities. So, for example, a
person who when dropping a letter in a mailbox makes double, triple, and
sometimes even quadruple checks to make sure the letter went down the mail
slot properly. I include this example because it's something I tend to do,
and I've wondered if I'm perhaps selecting particular given realities by
observing certain realities over and over and over again--until a
particular reality "sticks." There is some possible scientific advantage
for such repetitive observation of a system, as it is representative of a
physics phenomenon called the "Quantum Zeno Effect" (QZE). Some people
think of QZE as a "watched pot" phenomenon, in which repeated observations
can hold a quantum system in fixed (physical) form and prevent a quantum
system from making a jump to another state of being (another physical
state). QZE holds such potential that it is currently being developed to
create mind-controlled light switches and such.
So getting back to people on the spectrum tending to recall the same
history as always, it's possible that through better attention on facts in
a particular reality, they may experience fewer observed incidences of
alternate histories.
Another way to explore this fascinating line of inquiry you present is to
take a look at how people on the autism / Asperger's spectrum respond to
the Placebo Effect. I mention the Placebo Effect, because it seems like
another way to measure how people may be moving between realities. The only
study I've seen so far on this (Sandler, 2005) indicates that people on the
autism spectrum do apparently experience the Placebo Effect quite well. It
might be that all that they need to know is that there may be some
mechanism or method by which they can enjoy benefits from---so, while
experiencing Placebo Effect well is not the same as tracking alternate
histories, it can also serve as possible evidence that autistics can
experience alternate histories--but only in such instances when they have
something they can believe in as being responsible for any change. For as
Hippocrates once observed, "he cures most successfully in whom the people
have the most confidence."

The New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
by John Perkins
New Confessions of an EHM presents the idea of heads of corporations
pursuing policies that maximize profits regardless of the social and
environmental costs—and the idea of the essence of the banking
system that is designed to make us all slaves to debt—where
those who control the debt control everything. It is an expose into the way
that corporate expansionism takes place on a global scale. This corporate
autobiographic tell-all connects the dots showing how people "just doing
their jobs" in service to unethical corporations have created rapidly
increasing disparity between the wealthy and the poor.
As an insider working with some of the highest levels of international
government, John Perkins describes how he was enlisted, groomed, and
deployed in the ranks of an elite, secret group of "Economic Hit Men," or
EHM. As an EHM, John traveled to developing countries around the world,
presenting overly optimistic economic projections for how quickly their
economies would grow once they developed some (extremely expensive) modern
infrastructure projects. Once a country went into debt, they often found
out that the economic projections were not panning out, at which point
they'd be informed that everything was just fine---all they need do now is
hand over resources and assets to American-owned corporations. And should
the answer be "no," the action-oriented "jackals" were never far behind.
In New Confessions of an EHM, Perkins describes four pillars of modern
empire: fear, debt, insufficiency (overconsumption), and divide-and-conquer
mindset. These are utilized to exert non-democratic control over people of
the world by those in powerful corporate, government, and military
positions. And while Americans might think, "Well, none of that concerns
me, because it's happening overseas," one of the most shocking revelations
in "New Confessions" includes descriptions of how that is no longer true.
Some of the same tactics that have been applied to win corporate contracts
overseas are now being turned upon American citizens in the USA. With
corporations spending so heavily to influence political and ever since
Citizens United, the Supreme Court's 2010 decision allowing unlimited
corporate and union spending on political issues, we’ve
experienced further tilting of corporatocracy exerting undue influence in
every aspect of American life. EHM are now called political advisors and
consultants, but they’re pressing to increase wars and
everything else that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.
I especially love the last chapters in the book, providing inspiration and
direction regarding what each and every one of us can do to take positive
action that helps ensure corporations and governments behave more
transparently and ethically. As it turns out, our governments and
corporations depend on "we the people," and it's now time for individuals
to require that corporations and governments be good caretakers and
custodians, rather than run amok with unethical, unchecked greed.
Perkins writes, “We know that we teeter on the edge of economic,
political, social and economic disaster. We must change.”
Perkins not only provides simple, doable actions that we can each do, but
he also describes how his career so far has followed quite an arc, from
working as an EHM at MAIN, to starting Independent Power Systems, to
writing books about First Nations people to helping found Pachamama
Alliance.
Readers of the original "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" will love the
vast amount of new information added to this book that bring it current to
modern day post 9/11 times, and the things that students, retired people,
and all of us can do to transform the Death Economy into a Life Economy.
Highly recommended!

The Power of Pressure Points:
The Most Common and Effective Martial Art Pressure Points
by R. Barry Harmon
I love the way this book is organized with photos and illustrations so that
each pressure point is described on its own page, complete with all the
highlights one might most wish to know--including the names of the pressure
point in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. The pressure points are grouped
together in sections associated with their particular channel or meridian
(such as "Stomach," "Heart," or "Lung"), and illustrations showing each
constellation of points provides an overview at the start of each section.
The design and layout of each pressure point page makes quick reference
easy, as this book provides detailed graphic and verbal descriptions of
pressure point location, together with alternate names, explanations, and
primary actions and functions associated with each pressure point.
The Power of Pressure Points provides exemplary direction for locating
pressure points associated with martial arts targets. By grouping sets of
pressure points on their networks of channels called meridians, Harmon
describes the inner energy channels that empty into one another, ultimately
connecting "every cell in the body with the body's energetic system." (p.
182) Two chapters go into greater depth to cover the special relationships
these meridian systems have to one another--covering twelve major channels
and six special channels. (pages 181-201).
One of the most fascinating qualities of The Power of Pressure Points is
the way it features sections on each pressure point page describing the
most effective strikes to the point, observed effects, known effects, and
theoretical effects. The theoretical effects section is where strikes
capable of causing death or severe injury are described. Those interested
in healing will appreciate the inclusion of information about potential
positive benefits from working with each pressure point.
The Power of Pressure Points provides especially profound insights for
dedicated readers who peruse the book cover-to-cover more than once. For
such serious Ki Gong students, a wealth of deeper wisdom is gradually
revealed--especially when combined with regular practice with a true
martial arts master, in order to implement the ideas and key concepts in
regular training. Some of this information involves the way that Ki
training involves Um / Yin and Yang energy, and that inner energy work
benefits from: lower abdominal breathing, opening appropriate pressure
points, and correct focus of attention. Ki training insights are provided
throughout the book (such as on page 145), and in special sections at the
beginning (pages 10-19) and toward the end of the book (pages 204-208).
Though most of this book is written with a very matter-of-fact style, I'm
charmed by the passages written in poetic verse, such as "Benefits the
brain and calms the spirit and nourishes the sea of marrow," that offers
readers a delicious sense of learning about Ki and internal energy systems
alongside a great eastern master. (p. 144) As a ninth degree black belt and
the first American master in Kuk Sool Won, author R. Barry Harmon is indeed
a true master, who acknowledges that "This information comes directly from
my mentor, Grandmaster In Hyuk Suh," who is considered one of the world's
foremost authorities on the subject of Ki in martial arts.
I recommend this book highly for all serious students of martial arts, as
well as those interested in better understanding internal Ki.
