How Good Can it Get?
Cynthia Sue Larson
Win by Letting
Go
“By letting go, it all gets done.
The world is won by those who let it go.
But when you try and try,
the world is beyond the winning.”
― Lao Tzu
This last year and a half has been challenging, filled with many surprises.
I've had different things to work on that what I'd planned, and I've done
my best to make the most of it. Part of my personal journey has involved
being part of the first group of people to get and recover from long covid
(also known as “post-acute sequelae SARS-CoV-2
infection” or PASC). I discovered that few people other than
other longhauler experients can relate to the hundreds of mysterious
symptoms, which can seem confusing and overwhelming. This healing and
recovery experience provided me with deeper insights into the value we
humans get from unconditional kindness and love that we can share with one
another.
With so much going on in the world, it's important to stay primarily
focused on trusting our intuition with regard to what works best for us.
The thing that was most challenging for me in finding a way to recover from
long covid involved doing far less than I thought I could. It turns out
that Pacing and Rest are key to fully healing from longhaul covid. I wrote
a song about these key concepts, from pearls of wisdom shared by a woman
who was recovering fairly quickly from long covid, thanks to some things
she'd previously learned in recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome: Pacing and Rest: Longhaul Recovery
Song. The challenge for me personally was in letting go of doing as
much as I wanted to or thought I was able to do—it was hard for
me to spend so much time sleeping even when I felt like I was getting
better, and it was hard for me to stop trying so hard to get back into my
usual activities. It helped me to see that there are some good scientific
explanations for the value in reducing stress and exertion, and I was
relieved to find that adopting this approach truly worked for me.
Our immune system is much stronger when we are not feeling stressed, so in
addition to resting and pacing myself, I practiced the art of viewing
various stresses as: “not mine.” There is only so
much one person can do in the first place, and a person who's also healing
from a chronic illness has less energy and hours in the day, so it becomes
essential to healing to change how one observes the various perceptions
that arise in any given day. My friend and fellow longhauler, Mayra,
shared with me that she rather quickly learned from long covid,
“You stress, you die.” That may sound
extreme, but those four words capture the core essence of how it feels to
live with long covid for many experiencers. And listening to that message
can be a blessing for us, when we learn to not accept stress in our lives.
This is when it's very helpful to realize that it's possible to let go of
what we can't control or aren't able to do anything about.

This month I've been contemplating the power of observation, and thinking
about some of the things we love most about it. I asked the question,
“What do you love most about the power of
observation?” on facebook, when sharing a link to my new
video talk on the Power of Observation, and
received these thoughtful responses:
“It can answer many questions.” –
Judy
“It complements intuition.” – Tim
“By noticing patterns and results one can better call into
existence that which is desired.” – Mirth
“It has the power to call into being that which is not, as
though it were.” – Steve
“It changes with your conscious attention! –
Gillian
“Realizing one's own power.” –
Fanshu
These remind me of Ralph Waldo Emerson's quote: “Great men
are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material
force—that thoughts rule the world.” Learning to
rise above drama and stress just might help all of us become kinder with
ourselves, each other, and the world. We have the power of observation to
focus our attention—and we also have the gift of letting go of
all the stuff that doesn't really matter, in faith and trust that there is
a higher sense of hidden order, even when that may not seem physically
evident right here and now.
My favorite question, "How good can it get?" provides an open-ended
invitation to feel joy in connections in every aspect of our lives. We've
reliably witnessed some truly amazing reality shifts over the past twenty
plus years of reporting them in RealityShifters,

The Power of Observation
1 Aug 2021
9 minutes
How might your life change if you recognized that observing might be the
most powerful thing you could do? We acknowledge experts based on
what and how they observe, yet we seldom recognize the full power of
observation. Much like breathing, observing is something we often take for
granted, yet cannot live without. We can only live for a matter of
minutes without breathing--and in certain situations, the same can be said
of observation. We depend on observation in order to make choices
about the food we eat as well as every choice we make. How we do
this deceptively simple thing has everything to do with the level of
consciousness we experience. You can read the companion blog to this at:

IMEC Open Tables:
Colors of the Mandela Effect
28 Jul 2021
1 hour, 36 minutes
We see how truly international the Mandela Effect is in this
episode of International Mandela Effect Conference (IMEC) Open Tables,
Cynthia Sue Larson, Chris Anatra, and Jerry Hicks discuss colors of the
Mandela Effect. Mandela Effects involving plants and animals were
discussed, including white (spirit) redwood trees, and the blanket octopus.
We also talked about Mandela Effect eye color changes for Daniel Day Lewis,
who some recall as having had gray eyes previously; at this time, Daniel
Day Lewis has always had green eyes. We talked about the Twilight Zone
episode, “The Parallel,” which beautifully describes
the feeling of experiencing the Mandela Effect—from the 1960s!
This episode also includes discussion of some Egyptian Mandela Effects.

Shift Your Reality:
Reality Shifting History, Science, Tips, and Exercise
25 Jun 2021
45 minutes
Would you like to better understand the concept of reality shifts, and how
to experience more positive shifts in your life? This presentation provides
an overview of this topic, based on decades of research into reality shift
experiences, and the philosophy and science behind mind-matter interaction.
Cynthia Sue Larson shares some key insights, including: we are all reality
shifters; the role of consciousness; how to get and stay grounded and
neutral; and how to align yourself with what you love. Key concepts
included in this presentation include: frequently experienced types of
reality shifts; power of the placebo effect; consciousness as the true
foundation of reality; a definition of consciousness by Leibniz, and the
powerful role of our INTERPRETATION of our perceptions; the value of
staying stress-free (PolyVagal theory); the quantum physics double slit
experiment; the quantum physics Schrodinger's cat experiment; evolution of
consciousness toward thriving in a superposition of states; the illusory
nature of 'objective reality;' the power of being both Actor and Observer
revealed in Exceptional Human Experiences; tips for experiencing adjacent
realities; and an exercise in shifting reality. Cynthia Sue Larson
originally presented this talk on June 25, 2021 for the special "Permission
to Shift" online event, hosted by Anna Lang. https://youtu.be/5Ny2CDkZuIA
I thought it would be a good time to share a reality shift
that I
experienced last year involving a small screw. I was doing my weekly house
cleaning, wiping down a kitchen counter where my husband tends to leave his
bits-and-bobs. I noticed the sound of something ping as I
unintentionally swept it off the counter and onto the wooden floor. I
subsequently called to my husband so he could tell
me what I should search for. He said he had left a screw there.
The
workshops at the school where he works were being renovated, and he
emphasized that the screw was important because not many had been
supplied and that particular screw was hard to get. We found it
easily
enough, and he pocketed it with some relief while I went on with the
cleaning. I was up to vacuuming the hallway outside the bedrooms. I had
just
plugged in the vacuum, and glanced towards it in time to notice something
extraordinary. An object appeared to materialise in thin air about 30 cm
(approx. 12 inches) above the vacuum cleaner. I watched it drop and
bounce onto the carpet. Upon investigation, I realised it was the screw!
I called to my husband to tell him what had happened and show him the
screw. He fished around in his pocket and pulled out the original.
Both
screws were identical, but my husband insisted he had only brought the
one screw home, so he was really puzzled by how this one had just
materialised. My state of mind when this occurred was probably
contemplative or
daydreaming. When I dust, I generally listen to podcasts, and they
are
most often focused on topics to do with metaphysics or human
potential.
Then, while I vacuum, I may contemplate what I have been listening to,
daydream, or even enter a meditative state. It sounds a bit trite, but if
I am to derive a meaning from this, I guess I could interpret it as the
universe providing more than we might require or request. It seemed
like an intelligent response. At the
time, I identified the experience as the appearance of an apport, which
I presume to have something to do with spirit beings. My work as a
medium led to familiarity with such phenomena. This experience got me
thinking about the Scole experiments in physical mediumship. The apports
that appeared at these seances included old newspapers that appeared
freshly printed. To ensure a hoax hadn’t
occurred, the paper was tested and found to be the authentic paper used
in the era the newspapers would have been printed. It seems such
occurrences involve a manipulation of time. Smelling the fragrance
of a
deceased person, a phenomenon that my clients often report, could be
explained similarly.
Note from Cynthia: Thank you so much for sharing your experience
witnessing a screw materialize above where you were vacuuming, that matches
your husband's one-of-a-kind special screw that had fallen onto the wooden
floor earlier. I have heard reports of people finding a second,
identical item to one they'd earlier lost, so they ended up with more than
the single lost item--meaning they ended up with two of them! One
such report was made in a presentation by Kimberly-Lynn Hanson
for the International Mandela Effect Conference in 2019. What
strikes me as being so important and significant is that when these
one-of-a-kind items are lost and then come back as two-of-a-kind, it seems
almost as if we've gained something, the way sometimes we might feel we've
lost socks in the laundry machine, but the other side of that equation. And
now that I contemplate this, it occurs to me that we might thus
occasionally expect to have an extra sock--not because one went missing,
but because we somehow ended up with an inexplicable extra. And
this idea feels so familiar to me, that it reminds me that I did notice
many years ago that somehow I'd ended up with an extra sock of a specialty
set of socks. And then there is the special circumstance you
mention of your second one-of-a-kind tiny screw appearing out of thin air
right in front of you. That's something I've had happen on a few
occasions near me, also when in a meditative state: a key that had
been locked inside the trunk of our car; a tiny crystal landing on an aura
energy painting as I said, "you have a crystalline quality to your heart;"
a child's tiny tooth on the top of my dresser as I wrote a note, "my
daughter lost her loose tooth at school today;" a half gallon of milk
audibly landing inside our refrigerator when I was telling a friend, "We're
out of milk." These kinds of apportations are truly amazing,
indeed!

Missing Toast with Pomegranite Jam
Bev
Austin, Texas, USA
Was so fun reading about your month of
shifts and Mandela Effects! Wow. I could use a clean floor shift! I
had a few things of my own, also benign. One of the troubling things about
growing older (and being on pain meds) is you cannot be sure you have
experienced a reality shift, Mandela Effect, memory loss, or a combo of all
three! Yesterday morning I was eating a piece of my beloved toast with
Crofter’s Pomegranate jam. I had one delicious bite left, when
I set it down and went to the bedroom to do something—but the
entire time I was looking forward to getting back for that last bite. When
I returned, it was gone. Nowhere to be found—and I know I did
not eat it. I tell ya, I was heartbroken! I pictured a duplicate of
myself in a parallel universe enjoying my toast right then and I was not
happy. Then at lunch, I looked in the fridge for the new bottle of Tartar
sauce I had opened the evening before, when I had fish. I wanted some
again. Gone. Nowhere in the fridge. On a whim, I looked in the pantry,
and there it was again all new and unopened! I was stunned. I was alone
in the house with the toast, and my little dog is about the size of a
chihuahua, and it is impossible for her to get onto a countertop or table,
(and she has never gotten anything off a plate anyway). I know I have
sometimes not remembered if I have eaten the last bite of something before
when distracted, but this was not like that, there was conscious setting it
down and looking forward to finishing it with my coffee. My reaction to it
being gone was not one of confusion or doubt about having eaten it but
disbelief it was gone, and then sadness and annoyance that it shifted out
of my possession! Lots of synchronicities, too. Been buying duplicates of
things lately, and no memory of having bought it the first time a month or
a week earlier! (I now have a years supply of Glacier Blue thread, btw).
How good can it get (if only toast does not disappear)?!
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so much for sharing your recent
adventures with missing toast with Crofter’s Pomegranate jam,
which sounds totally divine! How surprising to save that one
special last bite, and then come back to find it--gone. I am glad
to hear that there are no 'usual suspects' such as toast-nabbing pets or
family members. I once had a cat who I never would have believed would
steal food off of someone's plate, if I hadn't seen it myself--and he stole
a piece of breaded zucchini, and ate it too, which was very surprising to
me at the time! Once we've ruled out other possible toast thieves,
it does start to seem like we've got a reality shift situation. The
tartar sauce is really nice, and almost makes up for the missing bite of
tasty toast! How amazing to see the unopened bottle back on the
shelf, as if you hadn't opened it the day before!
I have read some of your similar experiences, but to see
them repeated
together reminds me of just how wonderful and mysterious life on this
planet is! Since I sent you the first message about the missing bracelet,
I've
noticed two reality shifts in a short space of time (which is more than
average). They seemed minor and not worth relating on the site. One was
seeing a handkerchief under my bed. Sometimes if I am sniffly, I'll
put
a hanky under my pillow in case I need it. When I noticed a hanky had
fallen to the floor and was propped up against the skirting board, I
popped it in my pocket. Then, the next day when I was making the
bed,
it was there again in exactly the same way. The one in my pocket was
still there too. The other was missing masking tape. I had just
finished using the
masking tape and dropped it in the drawer where I keep it. Then I
needed it again. I looked in the drawer twice and it wasn't there, so I
went and borrowed some from my husband's workshop. When I went to toss
that in the drawer, the original masking tape I was using was there. The
thing is, the original masking tape was old and becoming difficult to
use. It had torn poorly when I was trying to create the white frame
around a water painting I was going to create. The
disappearance of the original meant I used the newer, better tape, and
was less frustrating than the tape that kept tearing.
Note from Cynthia: I love reading about your experiences with
finding the hanky you'd popped in your pocket and also propped against the
skirting board--so you ended up with two of them!
Restaurant Business Card Changed
Aynne McAvoy
author of "Just Who Are THEY Anyway"
A few months before Covid hit in 2020, my husband and I had
gone to a favorite German restaurant of ours in Ormond Beach. Before we
left that night, the waiter gave us a business card, with the new address
of the new place they were moving to in Ormond Beach. They had been in
this first location for many years, and I was a bit startled to learn they
planned to move into a space in a shopping center. While the original
restaurant is a bit run down, I was used to going to that particular
location. The waiter assured us they would be moved to the new
location late winter/early spring. I remember telling a friend that
was also fond of this restaurant that they were moving also. Now that
restaurants are opening up to inside seating again here, I decided to look
up that business card which I kept. However, the card listed the
old address, not the new one! Puzzled, I called the restaurant to
get the new address from them. The person answering the phone was very
confused, and said at no time had they ever considered moving from their
location they had been in for so long! I continue to shake my head over
this one! Even more fascinating is my husband's memories of that
night. He remembers the waiter, someone we had never seen
before. (He is right, I had forgotten that.) He remembers the
business card but he said he never looked at it. (Which would also be on
target; he depends on me to get the addresses for the gps when we are going
somewhere. He doesn't remember seeing the business card on the
fridge for months—but then again, he really doesn't notice stuff
like that.) He does remember having the conversation with me on the way
home, about their potential move to a different location. So, while he
doesn't have the more complete recall that I do, he does remember some of
it. So there are two of us puzzled.
Note from Cynthia: What I find most fascinating about your
experience is that you have clear memories of having received a business
card showing the new address, complete with a picture of the new
location! Something like that is surprising and noteworthy, and so
of course you'd have a clear memory of that business card, even though when
you found it to confirm the restaurant's address, it showed only the usual
address. That makes this reality shift super interesting, since you
were surprised both times you looked at that business card: the
first time you got it, and the time you next pulled it out.
Amazing! I am glad to know that your husband remembers the night that you
spoke to the waiter, who was new to both of you that night--and that's
interesting that your husband recalls your discussing the new
restaurant location, too. Fascinating!
My Paint Color No Longer Existed
Elizabeth
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
I’ve shared some of my reality shifting
experiences with you previously and have another one to share today!
Recently I decided to do some painting touch ups in our townhouse and set
off to the paint store to purchase a small can of paint. At the store I
told the clerk what I was looking for, and the name of the paint which was
called, “ lime fusion.” Now the entire downstairs of
our small townhouse is painted in this colour which is a soft pretty pale
green. I know this was the name of the colour because I tried a few
different green shades before settling on “ lime fusion”
which I loved. As you may have guessed, they didn’t have it,
and, when I asked if they had discontinued it or changed the name, I was
told no, that in fact, there has never been a colour by that
name—ever, it doesn’t exist, except apparently on my
walls. I was told that they keep track of discontinued colours in case
someone like me comes in and wants to purchase paint that is no longer
around. In this case, as far as they are concerned, there is no
such colour. I know the paint colour on my walls is called lime fusion,
there is no mistake. As well, over the years I’ve told
other people the name of the colour when they were considering doing some
painting. So! There it is, another story of shifting realities.
I should add, I’ve been asking the universe to bring me more
evidence of shifting reality and I can see they are listening!
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so much for sharing this experience
noticing your paint color, 'lime fusion,' no longer exists, and according
to the paint shop, never did. Good thinking to investigate
discontinued colors, and how wonderful that you had opportunities from time
to time to remember the color name, when sharing it with people who
wondered what shade of green it was. How fun to experience this
kind of reality shift!
Restaurant Wallpaper Color Changed
Steven
Mesquite, Texas, USA
I finally went to the same restaurant I used to eat at.
Everything looks about the same, except for the kitchen shelf-like near the
ceiling that holds stuff where we all the customers can see. There
is a dark green wallpaper behind the stuff we can see. In my
parallel universe, there is a red wallpaper behind the stuff we can
see. I asked the waitress if anything had changed.
She said no, but some changes in the menu due to the COVID-19.
Note from Cynthia: I'm glad you asked the waitress whether
anything had changed, so you got her confirmation that at least as far as
she was aware, there had been no redecorating or remodeling--only some
changes in the menu. That's interesting that you witnessed the
color change of the wallpaper going from what you remember as having been
red, to what is now dark green.
Chairs on Star Trek TNG are Different
Steven
Mesquite, Texas, USA
On Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), there are
purple chairs in the ready/meeting room that I don't think I
recognized. It didn't feel right to see purple chairs; I believe
that they are all red chairs in my parallel universe.
Note from Cynthia: Your memory of there having been red chairs in
the Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG)'s ready/meeting room. It's
been a while since I watched that show, and I don't have a clear memory of
those scenes, but I hope people let me know if they recall the chairs being
different on the show. This type of reality shift has the potential
to qualify as a Mandela Effect, in which what otherwise might have been a
reality shift experienced by one or a few people might be recognized by
thousands, or millions.
Hi, Cynthia,
You are certainly the oddest person I have the real privilege to know! All
those shifts! Wow! And what is so cool is that you end up saying you feel
safe, while anyone grounded in 3-d reality of the 'normal' might be shaking
in their boots, and possibly putting themselves into custody. Your reality
is so fluid and charming - missing undies? Self-cleaning floors? I burst
out laughing when you created your own sequels - that's just hilarious!
I'm so glad you and your fabulous outlook are part of my life!
Aloha,
—Angela
Dear Angela,
Thanks for your email, and I'm glad to accept the distinction of being one
of the oddest people you have the privilege to know! That delicates
washbag was actually specially designated to contain reusable face
mini-washpads. I use this bag to contain my washable 'wet
wipes' I use for washing my face; my other page containing other delicates
didn't happen to go missing--at least, not yet, ha-ha! So far, I've
only seen one sequel that subsequently went missing, to be replaced by some
movie filmed later in the imaginary timeline, such that there now exists a
time gap between the current Pitch Perfect 1 and the new-to-me Pitch
Perfect 2 (which felt to me like it must actually be Pitch Perfect 3).
That truly was such a weird shift--as were many of these that I experienced
in a one week timeframe in June 2021. It helps to go with the
flow.
lots of love,
—Cynthia
