Most of us can relate to the suspicion that reality is being pulled out from under us -- at least some of the time. Fortunately, there is something you can do about it! You are one of the people helping to steer this spaceship Earth, and your thoughts and feelings make a huge difference in where we're headed.

The concept of lucid dreams that change the physical world was vividly presented in Ursula K. Le Guin's book and movie, The Lathe of Heaven. The main character, a man named George Orr, discovers that some of his dreams -- his "effective dreams" -- have the power to change the world. When he seeks help from a power-crazed psychologist who feels it's possible to control George's dreams to make the world a better place, things go terribly wrong. "The Lathe of Heaven" raises a key question:

This question reminds me of research done by the Spindrift Institute with their prayer studies. People who prayed for "the best" for seeds noticed taller, healthier plants resulted from these prayers than more specific prayers for plants to be tall or strong. We can apply this information to our own prayers for ourselves and our loved ones; when we wish or pray for "the best," we can avoid the sorts of problems that George Orr and his therapist encounter in "The Lathe of Heaven."

DISAPPEARING/REAPPEARING DIAMOND PENDANT

I am thrilled to see this site, and share an event from 1970 that has baffled me for years. My husband had been a B-52 pilot flying out of Guam, while I lived at my parents' home in California. I had just became a Christian, and was quite devout. When I heard the news that my husband would be returning soon, I looked forward to our reunion and went shopping for clothes with my friend. I had been in every store at the mall and almost every dressing room, trying armloads of clothes on. Later that day, as we examined our purchases, my hand went up to my diamond pendant. It was gone! My heart sank because it had been a gift from my husband for our one year anniversary. I went into that "Oh my God, where can it be?" thing. I was totally depressed and in shock.

Then I noticed a funny thing, the gold neck chain was still intact! I wondered, "How could the pendant have come off of the chain?" and called my mother to lament its loss. She called a psychic friend of hers, and called me back to tell me that "Viola" said the diamond was "around" me still, and that I could find it. All afternoon I pondered how on earth that pendant could have gotten off of that chain. It was one piece of cast gold, and the bail was part of the design, with no solders or moving parts.

Suddenly as I did another "pat down" of my clothes, I felt something hard enclosed in the hem of my shirt. I checked more closely, and there was my pendant! Somehow it had passed through a solid chain, entered my blouse at the neck (which was securely stitched), made its way down the front placket, and entered the hem where it happily awaited my finding it! I had to use a seam ripper to retrieve it.

I've thought all of these years that I was weird -- that I was the only one who had such a bizarre thing happen to me. Whew! Thirty odd years later, I somehow don't feel so alone.

E-MAIL LOST IN SPACE

On April 27, I got an email from a friend telling me about a radio programme that was going to be about the area where I live. I missed the radio programme however, because when I looked at the date of my friend's e-mail, I saw that it had been sent to me two months earlier -- on 20 February 2003, at 11:37 am! The date of this e-mail ties in perfectly with the radio programme, which had been scheduled to broadcast shortly after my friend's e-mail to me.

On carefully checking my friend's PC, I discovered that it's date setting is correct. He obviously hadn't resent an out-of-date email to me; in fact, he had deleted that email some time ago.

So... whatever happened to that e-mail in the intervening ten weeks? What kind of e-liminal experience has it gone through?! Fortean Times regularly has pieces on letters being delivered years later; this suggests that there may also be Paddington Bear e-mails waiting at some cyber station for the express that already left...

Has anybody else had late e-mails like this?

(4) Reality Shifters Q & A

Q: Hi Cynthia, Is it really possible for energy to change quickly between two people? For months I have had the worst time making eye contact and conversations with someone I feel close to...He could not seem to look me in the eye and talk comfortably either...then all of the sudden (like it was a new day or new reality) the tension and uneasiness was gone....just like that. I am amazed and wondering what happened here. It was just like magic in a way...because it seemed to happen to both of us at the same time. Is there an explanation for this? We will be around each other a lot in the very near future because he is going to do some work in my home. I have been wondering if it's going to be a comfortable or uncomfortable experience. I suppose a little positive visualization wouldn't hurt. Someone has suggested to me that he and I possibly share the same energy...I don't know about that, but this "shift" did seem to happen to both of us at the same time. Did "we" make it happen? Thanks for you help.

A: Yes, energy can change very quickly between two people! The experience you describe is a good example of that. There are many possible explanations for what happened -- everything from one or both of you making internal shifts in your energy and/or intentions, to someone else praying for either or both of you, to you being together in a place that is energetically more conducive to closeness and trust. It's very possible that you made this change happen. When people like one another, their energy fields do tend to come together and combine. This shows up in Kirlian photographs (where you can see the colors merging between the coronas around each person's finger tip), and when you start viewing auras, you can see the auras merging first-hand. When people don't like one another, their energy fields tend to repel one another, in much the same way that similarly-charged magnets repel one another.
